measuring parts of a pipe

Hi Guys,
ive been asked to measure a thin tube with a laser tracker giving measurements at certain heights
Any idea what the best method would be to use using a laser tracker...

align the part
create features at the appropriate height
create dimensions that capture the measurements you care about
