Extentsion probes

After building a extentsion , does it have to stay together, or can you take it apart and rebuild it at later date . Also do you have to recalibrate it at that time , or does the calibration still in like on the regular probes. This is first time using them, and is a 1 pcs. part but there is possiblity that another part might be measured 6 months from now.
Thank you

It's the same deal as with the normal probes.

If nothing has changed about the 6mm probe (angle of shaft, roundness of ruby, etc), no need to calibrate.

If nothing has changed about your configurable probe, no need to calibrate!! However, I ask you: if you unscrew your configurable probe, and then screw it back together again...is it really the same? Do you think we should calibrate?
  • Any time you disassemble and reassemble a probe you should calibrate it. If you keep a probe intact it theoretically doesn't change, but after 6 months I would at least check it using a ring gage or something similar.
