Alignment rotation always needed?

I hear that you can create an alignment without designating a rotation if one is not indicate like on a cylindar part. Please review the attached drawing for an example of not needing rotation.

  • Yes, exactly.... THis is throwing me off. That is why I was asking about rotation.

    I am thinking of creating a line for the X axis rotation on the surface at the end of the 9.50 dim.
    Do you think that will work?

    I am not sure how you are setting this up. Need more info. Leveling on what? How is the part oriented on the machine?
