Touch trigger probes

I was poking around on the Hexagon site today and saw that they sell an adaptor that would allow you to use a TP20 touch trigger on a Romer Arm.

I was wondering, does anyone have this and how well do the touch trigger probes work with a Romer. Also how would you calibrate your probe configurations. I doubt that it would be done the same way that you calibrate the fixed probes that come with the arm.

If it is possible to use a TP20 set up, that would be great. As nice as the RS1 scanner is, you can't get at everything with it, especially inside a casting.

Yes you can use TP20 probes, but for castings I´d use a hardprobe instead of a TP20, these are better suited for softer materials like plastics, clay, thin sheet metal, etc.

You'll be calibrating it every 30 minutes as you inadvertently bend the shaft, and you'll have it broken within a week.

I would, and I have 6+ years using Romers and developing a 'soft touch'.

Would not recommend -- get a probe extension kit.
