I have been tasked with setting up a Romer with existing software that currently runs a CMM. Software PC-DMIS V. 4.2 MR1. I have set the Romer up, calibrated it using its utility feature (not with PC-DMIS) and now I need to know how to get PC-DMIS to recognize that there is a Romer attached. The CMM attaches through COM port 1 but the Romer has a USB connection. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall? Or can I manipulate the current version to "know" that there is a Romer attached....? Any and all help is appreciated.....

Never used one, it is used to measure tubing (i.e. car exhaust system) if you make this type of parts you better learn how to calibrate/use it. Once you learn how to calibrate it, pcdmis should list it in the available probes.
That is the idea here... Someone in the past knew how to use these and we have parts that need to be measured. I just don't know where to start... Don't even know how to calibrate these. WinRDS recognizes the probe and asks me to calibrate it but that is where I get lost...

Check your winrds documentation or start a new thread asking how to calibrate this type of probes.
Those have a different type of artifact to calibrate. It looks like a t-handle that is made up of round stock probably 1" in dia (at least what I have seen). These also from what I have seen run in another software outside of pcdmis (again this is from my limited experience with those probes). That software is called DOCS.
Update: Still getting the DOCS program up and running. I am having to steal the old hard drive from the crashed computer and trying to get it to work with the newer computer. This would be 100X easier if I had the original DOCS 2.3 install CD. I can find DOCS but when it tries to open it says the opengl needs to be a certain version or newer. I know that this computer actually has a better graphice card than the old one but there are still issues. Turning into a headache and my company still doesn't want to update the software just to run tubes. Any ideas where I can get old software from... Is that an unrealistic notion...?
