Help with calibrating and using non-contact tubing probes

Here is some background info... I took over a position in the quality dept. and with this postion comes the need to use measuing tools. I have learned how to run a CMM and do some small amount of programing. Now I have been assigned to dust off the Romer machine and get it back up and running. The main reason is for measuing tubes. We do little or no "portable" measuring. This machine was purchased in the past almost exclusivly to measure tubes, and that is where the problem lies... I cannot figure out how to use the non-contact tubing probes that came with the Romer. I don't even know where to begin, like calibration or even if I should hold down the button that is on the probe while it scans...

I have the Inifinate, running PC-DMIS 4.2 MR1. I have launched WinRDS and tried to calibrate (this is what I see) If anyone can help me understand how to use these types of probes, especially with PC-DMIS, it would be a great help.

This is one of the probes that I have to use...

Thank you,

  • That is the measuring procedure that is coming up. SO with the t-handle artifact set up and running parallel to you want the tube probe to have the measurement buttons down and sweep/run the probe around the t-bar high and back out then do it again low. Proceed to follow those instructions until you are through the process.
