I'm Sebastian Prins 19 years old student from Holland, and I just started working/schooling at a company called VMI, which is specialized in building tire building machines.
Nowadays they align the machine's with Theodolite's and a plumb rule, not really special.
But, a few months ago they've bought a Leica At401 Laser tracker with PC-dmis pro.
Some guys followed a 3 day course in Eindhoven, but they are really busy so they had no time to find out how the machine really works.
Than I came in and got the command to find out how PC-Dmis works and how we can use the Leica AT401 Laser Trakcer for aligning the machines.
I told them that it is a hard programm to understand, especially when you haven't followed any training/schooling for it.
My question is:
Is it really necessary to follow a course and do you guys have some tips for aligning with the Laser tracker/PC-dmis combo?
Sorry, that my English isn't the best.
But I'm DUTCH
You should (you must ?) learn about :
1 - What's a tracker, what you can do with, what you can't .
2 - PC-DMIS for tracker.
If you never worked in metrology, you will have a lot of work to understand that the result of a measurement contains a part of uncertainty, and a good measurement is ok when the uncertainty is known and minimized...
