I just joined the Hexagon PC-DMIS Forum this week and have been concentrating my reading in the sub-forum called "PC-DMIS Portable" as I was told that this is the version used on Leica Total-Stations. I am running PC-DMIS Pro Version 2012 MR1.
So far in my exploration/hunting, most of the posts (99.99%) are written by people who operate CMM that are fixed and primarily for part inspection. No disrespect to you people! We, at my company, are doing field work primarily, and the nature of the beast is very different from part inspection (no use of repeated inspection, program writing, automatic measurement etc.) and I need support for PC-DMIS for Total Station Operations.
Any one out in Forum-land have a suggestion as to which sub-forum is best for Total Stations? Any other literature or database for support that you all could suggest would be highly praised and welcome! It seems that I am in the minority of users who are dealing with PC-DMIS as a user of a field instrument taking measurement on unique machinery with no need for repetition. Sort of like inspecting the interior of a vessel which is never going to be repeated for sale.
