PC Dumb A** struck again........

Have a part here that has a deep cored pocket that you can not get down in with the laser. The solution ( which I have done in the past ) is to cut a portion of the casting away after you get as much of the part scanned as you can. Then reset the part up and do an equate alignment and scan the area you couldn't get the first time around.

Went to do that today and PC DMIS will not equate. Did a little test program with just hard prob hits and same result, PC DMIS will not equate the two set ups( this is in 2014 ) Back saved the little test program back to 2011 MR1 and it equates just fine. Tried to back save my main program back to 2011 MR1.....didn't have much confidence in it working as I have tried in the past to do this and it just crashes when opening in 2011 MR1....must have something to do with the point cloud that causes it to crash.

Funny thing is I just used the equate option in 2014 on a different part last week and it worked fine.

Thanks again PC DMIS.

My rant for the day.
  • Instead of going back to 2011 try going back to 2013MR1. They made a major change to the COP code in 2013 so you are almost certain to have problems going back to anything before that.
  • Scott, I would suggest you speak with Technical Support in regards to your equate alignment issue. If you have internet access, they will be able to help remotely. Perhaps they can see what might be happening and why it's not equating.
  • I basically got no help from tech support. Spent two days chasing my tail with them pointing the finger at everything under sun.....from my program name to computer not fast enough.

Ultimately what Dasalo said to try is what worked. So as it stands right now, my "work around" is to back save to 2013 MR1, so it equates, then I can run in 2014 again.

I never thought about 2013 MR1 because I never really used it as it had it's own set of problems when it came to the actual process of scanning the part.
