Plane autotrigger: perimeter measurement at 1" increments

I am a very new user to PC-DMIS... I am using version 2015.0 with a Romer Arm, model RA-7520. My current challenge is a complex interior shape that our customer wants measurement data on. They have requested a perimeter measurement of the cavity at 1" increments from the floor to the top of the cavity, so they can compare the shape to their CAD model. Can Plane Autotrigger be used to snap measurement points at these specified increments by "painting" the probe tip up and down around the specified level? The interior shape of the cavity is quite complex, containing flat planes, cylinders, a cone, and a cone-like shape that the upper and lower radii have different center lines (not a true cone?). The help file in PC-DMIS is very cryptic and every little help at all, like most help files for software.

Is the customer's request achievable with the Romer Arm and PC-DMIS?

If so, how do you set the desired height from the established "Zplus" plane floor to get the perimeter measurements?

Lots of head scratching going on here. Hopefully someone can get me going in the right direction... thanks!
