Equate Alignment on Pointcloud

I have an RS3 scanner that I mainly use on castings. In order to get the whole casting, I need to flip so I've been creating 2 COPS, stitching them together, picking points, and then auto aligning to the model. Now, I need to probe specific features that aren't available when i flip the part. I know there is an equate alignment feature but I haven't been able to get it to work with v2015. Could somebody either give more information on what exactly the equate does or maybe give another way to align the 2 COPS by using the same datums?

  • I haven't used V2015 yet, but I know in 2014 it is a crap shoot if equate is going to work or not. I primarily use 2014, but if I need to equate something, I back save to 2013 and then I can equate. It works nice if you have to section a casting up and scan interior core passages.

It doesn't necessarily have to be the equate alignment but this is just something I read and decided to try it. I'm all ears if there is another way to flip the part and have both COPS align or refer back to the same Datum features while being graphically correct.
