Getting lines in translated IGES file when scanning points

Hi, I have very limited experience with PC-MIS. I have been probing points from a part, only points no other type of geometry. After exporting the file from PC-DMIS into IGES format and then importing it into Solidworks I get the original scans of points, but also many lines. Each line is one sketch in the imported SW file. One end of the line will be a point that I scanned, but the sketch that the line is in only contains that one line. It is time consuming and annoying to delete hundreds of these sketches with one line in them. Is there a setting that I can change that will get rid of the lines when probing in PC-DMIS or exporting the file into IGES? I have also included a picture of the file imported into Solidworks to show the lines and hundreds of sketches.

I am using a Romer Absolute RA-7525SEI-4 portable CMM with PC-DMIS 2018 R2 SP7

Thanks,

Nic

  • Are you talking about deleting in Solidworks or PC-DMIS? I can delete them ok in Solidworks, but the lines don't show up in PC-DMIS. It only shows points in PC-DMIS, the lines only appear in Solidworks after importing the IGES file generated out of PC-DMIS. I don't believe that Solidworks is making the lines as I have imported files with points from other software packages with no similar issue.
