Does anyone know someone that calibrates Roemer Arms outside of Hexagon? Hexagon informed us that as of next year they wouldn't be calibrating our arm anymore due to it's age. (About 6 years old) Thanx.
CMMXYZ will do it in Canada, in house is possible to do the b89 but you would need a very rigid set up to mount the bar in all the positions, it must certainly not move a micron and you need it mounted 4 feet above your plate both vertically and horizontally. IMO faking the proper bar positions is qualifying exactly nothing and doing it shoddy with half ass set-ups is going to flex and move a bit on you... you will need to apply a bit of pressure to the bar during the test it has to be solid solid solid. Additionally there is nothing you can do with ring gauges and gauge blocks will verify the entire measuring envelope
a check to a ring gauge is more like a zero check on a micrometer instead of a full calibration of its entire range. it is the sort of thing you do with a properly calibrated portable CMM when you start up on site and want to verify how it can be expected to perform in current conditions, even tho it is already calibrated
