GD&T interpretation

Hi Folks,

I am trying to understand the highlighted callout on the drawing attached. Does it mean that there is a requirement for the Positional Verification of the clip and the profile check on the inner edge if the clip. If that is the case then the profile check (+/-0.25 which is half of 0.5) would have the bonus form the positional check (2) ? so that the total profile check would be for 2.5 (+/-1.25). Your opinions are highly appreciated.

  • I cannot see your whole drawing, but the FCF in question does not allow "bonus" on the feature size. You do have datum "shift" or displacement allowable for the primary and secondary datum portions of the FCF. In this case, the profile of 0.5mm goes "all around" the feature controlling the clips "size and form"- and the position requirement defines the location requirements (bi-directional). Many years ago they used to use the "boundary" term when dimensioning like this...
