Hi,
I have a absolute arm with the AS1 laser sensor, and would like to simulate a point cloud on the cad file so I can make the program offline ahead of the production of the actual part.
From what I can read in the manual, it seems that it would be possible to do this.
But I’ve tried and I can't get it to work, is there someone who has managed to do this and can describe the steps to get it working?
I’m using PC-Dmis 2023.1
For PC-DMIS Portable, the existing "Simulate point cloud" functionality allows you to read in a previously saved point cloud stripe-by-stripe, simulating the original measurement sequence. We have added the ability to simulate a COP from the CAD model to PC-DMIS 2023.2 which is currently scheduled to release around the middle of August. If you sign up for the tech preview, you will be able to download and give it a try.
I have the same setup, I write offline programs quite often without a pointcloud or simulated pointcloud.
First I open a new program, import cad, orient the CAD if needed. Then Insert Point Cloud Feature, then Insert point cloud alignment, and I figure out how I'll set up the part for a scan and determine points for the pointcloud aligntment. After that, create the features used to create the New alignment, then Insert New alignment.
Then just create everything i need for my inspection. I always play around with the detection envelope, and after I get an actual part to scan, the program will always need a little tweaking. But I am fairly confident in the programming offline.
