PCDMIS won't open on Romer!

I recently got a new computer for my Romer Arm. I loaded Win RDS and PCDMIS 3.7 onto my new laptop following all the instructions, but when I open PCDMIS I get a error saying "interfac.dll will not load". Does anyone have any suggestions?

What instructions did you follow? These?

  • Didnt follow either of those! New laptop has windows xp not vista.
Got instructions from Romer on how to install the software. Brown and Sharpe did a retrofit originally and installed it on my old laptop.

Any idea what the error means.
  • What it is telling you is that your port lock is not set for the interfac.dll file that Pcdmis used for the install. Copy the interfac.dll file from the old PC to the new one.
  • Did that already.
Does windows xp professional vs windows home edition matter. The old computer had home.
  • There is a 'fix' needed for XP sp2, but I don't think it involves the interfac.dll file, I think it is for random crashes. If you can't open, you can't crash.
  • Which version of Win RDS did you load?

Did you make a copy of romer.dll and rename it interfac.dll in the PCDMISW directory? If you did, its possible it was an incompatible version with the win RDS version you loaded.

Can you upgrade to 4.2? I would suggest it.

First off, ensure that the ROMER is communicating with WinRDS (Cimcore Arm Utilities) before interfacing with PC-DMIS.

Next, if you are using WinRDS 4.3 or older, there is one step you must perform manually to get it working with PC-DMIS. Go to your the Control Panel in Windows and double click on System (or right click on My Computer and select Properties). Click on the Advanced tab and click the button Environment Variables. Under System Variables, highlight the variable 'Path' and click on the Edit button. Keep everything that is already in the path, but add a semi colon ';' to the end (if there isn't one already) and copy and paste the following after the semi-colon:

    C:\Program Files\CIMCORE\WinRDS

Click OK to accept all changes in every window that is currently open. That's it!

For the record, I highly recommend PC-DMIS versions 4.1 - 4.2 MR1 when using ROMER arms.

    Hello

When you use romer arm, you mast change the interfac.dll
    Go to: program files/wai
there you find interfac.dll -make a backup and delete it.
after you must find file "romer.dll" copy and paste this file and the copy rename to interfac.dll.

you know that when you use romosoft, first you must install PC-DMIS after the romosoft with product cd.
