New Romer Arm hard probe issue

We have had an Absolute Arm, 2.5 7-axis SI for a long time.

We recently got a new Absolute Arm, 5850 V3P 7-axis with a new laptop & Polyworks

Using Pcdmis 2023.1, had no 'problems' (other than vastly sub-par laptop) with the old scanner.  It had loggy issues with the new scanner (too much data, not enough power)

Now to the new laptop, SAME version of Pcdmis, SAME RDS version.

No matter what we do, how we do it, including all the possible permutations, we CAN NOT GET the hard probes to work.

WiFi connection or wired

load probe first or just tell it to switch to the hard probe

Laser on the unit, laser off the unit

Every possible combination of possibilities, nothing will allow Pcdmis to use the hard probes.

EVERY time it crashed out Pcdmis.  Every time.

Night shift guy was sent to the training on Polyworks, took the laptop with him, explained the issue to those in Novi

Still not heard anything in the way of an answer for the problem.

  • the biggest PITA was the fact that the (landline) phone is 40 feet from where the arm is, and the laptop doesn't have an internet plug, and no shop wifi reaches in here, so had to bring the laptop over to the desk, steal an internet cord from another PC, plug the adapter into 1 of the TWO usb ports the laptop has, unplug the mouse so a software dongle could be plugged in, he remoted to the laptop, but for tests, I had to put the phone down, go over to the arm, test it, come back, yada, yada, yada, back and forth, back and forth.
