Absolute Arm does not compensate probe tip diameter

Hi everyone,

we are having issue the arm Absolute Arm does not compensate tip diameter.  Measuring the part without CAD, went thru alignment, the probe tip window position does not compensate the probe tip diameter.  However, RDS tool quick measure application is correct measurement results when we measure diameter or height.  Please anyone having the same issue and how to solve the problem.  Do we need to recalibrate the arm?  Thans so much for any advice.

  • Doesn't the Demon use the tip vector of the arm to compensate if you don't have CAD? So unless you are "pointing" at the hit then it can move the wrong direction?
Not gonna lie, its been ages since I messed around without CAD on the arm.

  • for 3D features it will compensate for the probe correctly, as long as you measure them correctly (3 sample hits for holes, correct workplane OR feature instead of workplane for a line, etc.) but for single points, just touch & pull the trigger, it uses the probe vector for probe compensation.  There is a reason that VECTOR point is not available on the Pcdmis Portable version of the software, only SURFACE point.  However, if you take the sample hits away from a surface point, it is the same as a vector point.
