Measure a rubber band or O-ring

My name is Lars Engstrup and from Denmark.

I have a task where I need to measure a diameter on a thin part made of rubber (like a rubber band or O-ring).

But when the part is made of rubber and deformed (not round) will calculation of the diameter not be possible by using the normal circle calculation program in PC-DMIS. But I need a method to calculate the circumference/length of the surface/contour on the diameter.

The diameter will be measured with optical scan at a Mycrona CMM.

What opportunities are there in PC-DMIS CAD + + (version 4.2) to calculating the circumference / length of the contour of a curve.

  • Ok, I'm back to try and measure some o-rings. I have been thinking about this a lot. I would like to create a 1 program that can inspect the various diameters of o-rings. I think I can make a program that asks the operator to enter in the ID or OD of the o-ring to be used as a variable for an auto circle. This might be a dumb question but would I need an alignment to this o-ring before it inspects?

I have 2 different size o-rings that I want to start with. Can I create an autocircle with the diameter depending on the input comment and variable?

1 has an ID of 2.484 and OD of 2.762

The 2nd 1 has an ID of 4.359 and OD of 4.637

    I'm running an Optiv 321. 2015
