optical measurement not matching touch probe measurement

Hello,

I am new to vision measurement with pc dmis. I was trying to verify that the vision and touch probe measure the same and am coming up with issues that I am not sure about how to correct.

The touch probe seems to be measuring good and true to itself, but when i measure the same ring gage in the same location with the vision I get a deviation of (-0.0033) in X, a deviation of 0.0063 in Y, a deviation of (-.0052) in Z, and a deviation of (-.0012) on the diameter.

I am running 2011 MR1 on a optiv performance 2z443.

Are there simple offsets that I can use? Should I just try to run the machine through calibration again?

The only calibration that I have done is optical to ring (yes has moved) - probe to ring (has not moved) - probe to sphere (yes has moved)

The probe seems to repeat to itself and the optical to itself, but they dont repeat to eachother. The optical is also giving a smaller diameter than the ring measures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am on my second week of work here and would really like to get there machine up to par. I will not be able to go for formal training for about two months and this machine is needed to be running yesterday.

Thanks again for any help

  • So have you ran the procedure to link the probe and optics? The other thing that might be playing a factor is what level are you measuring the diameter? Are you measuing the top surface or measuring what appears to be the bottom? That might place a role in this, what is the alignment look like?

I may be mistaken, but I thought the procedure to link the probe and optics was in the calibration to the ring (if that isn't it I am not sure what to do). The program that I am running locates the ring with the tactile probe (level on top, set z to top, set x and y to inner ring diameter). I then measure the ring with the optical...auto circle x-0, y-0, z-0
