How does vision calculate/construct an autoline?

I'm measuring two lines approx 5" long, then measuring the distance between them. How does PCDMIS calculate/construct all the points within each line? Best fit between all points?

Yes, I believe it is best fit. It will have the same start/stop point, but the vector of the line is based on a best fit.
