Tesa Visio 500 (new)

This is my 1st post, just happened to google the words Tesa and here I am. I have driven a few CMM's over the last 20yrs or so. Started out with a DEA Big Gantry at Lear Seigler(Neway) Muskegon yrs ago which was a big table manual move machine. Then went to Shape Corportation about 14yrs ago and ran a NC move programmable DEA left after 1 yr. We changed it over to a PH9 head just before I left. Present job aerospace/avionics as Quality Director Prime Products for the last 13 yrs. I have a Mitutoyo Quick Vision 1997 and am looking to upgrade. Presently looking at the new Tesa Visio 500 and thinking about purchasing one. Not sure if they even have one ready to go yet, but my contact has quoted already. We like the PC-DMIS software and this one will have the CAD package on it. We have some flat work lasered out of some mylar that the vision end of this machine will check to begin with. Looking for suggestions on purchasing this brand. Just visited the Quality Expo a while back and we have lined up with this model w/PC-DMIS software. We need the bigger table 16" x 20" but about 90% could be run on the 300mm machine. Thanks for your help. This seems like a great website!Slight smileSlight smile
  • Buy another Mitutoyo QV - best vision system available.
  • Visio 500

Although i agree the QV is a nice machine the software of PCDmis Vision is far superior and if you are struggling with the thought of the Visio have you considered an Optiv from Brown and Sharpe.
These machines come in 3 accuracy specifications and are tailored to the customers needs with a unique component design allowing upgrade in the field as your design - budget - or application changes.
The system even incorporates the capability of a dual Z allowing touch probe to be added seperately if required so you can run the system as if it was a Tactile CMM offering no restriction
  • The Optiv is very new.........How do you come by recommending it? Do you have one? It looks like an Old CMM guy's dream with all the add ons to compliment the vision end with probes either single/star or possibly a PH10. I'm now looking at it. Think it might be more $$ but looks like it can be tailored to fit. It still runs PC-DMIS which is what we want.

I dont think so. Have you actually used PCD Vision?

Please list the reasons why, I'm curious.

Hobbies2234 has 1 post & very detailed knowledge of the machine. It sounds like he works for B&S.....i could be wrong...
  • Does Mitutoyo have a multi-sensor QV? I haven't looked their way yet. I heard you can't get a machine from them because of an export ban? Know anything about that CMM-GUY
  • Yes. You should get a demo if you are serious. Their hardware is unsurpassed and lightning innovations(both hardware and software) are superior and patented.
  • I have an old 202 barracuda which does not work that well on machined holes and edges from clear plastic. I have had to use more magic markers for semi-transparent clear plastic to trick it out to get good enough definition. Sanded the part also to make it opaque probably could have bought stock in magic marker company.

Was this a spoof, bad rumour, no truth to it........................should I do business with such sorts? Wonder what happened there? Anybody know anything? We can't we talk about it? Am I preaching to the Choir? I'm not sure what to do. Is there any support anymore even for the demo's?

Not following you... PM me and I can answer any questions you want.
  • I have used a newer OGP, a MicroVu system (old), and the Tesa. I wish we could get one here i love that thing. To bad it was at my last job. The OGP is good but very querky. The Tesa is very easy to use to if you have Dmis experiance.Smiley Just my 2 cents
