When flatness is called out on drawing. How many hits and how far away are each hit has to be? What is the proper way to manually very a flatness call out?
The best way to manually check flatness is to use (3) adjustable jackstands & a dial indicator. Place the part on the jackstands with the surface you want to check facing UP (I know that idea takes some getting used to). Measure directly over your jackstands with the dial indicator and adjust them until you have (3) points that read zero. Sweep the rest of your surface and the total indicator reading = flatness.
