When flatness is called out on drawing. How many hits and how far away are each hit has to be? What is the proper way to manually very a flatness call out?
Actually I would use the flatness rock before I would use the CMM. It is faster than the CMM and I believe more accurate than the CMM, with the rock you are not takeing individual points therefore you can quickly measure more of the surface. The sensor is good to .0001, the readout is digital and the rock is flat. The part sits on the three highest points whereas the CMM may not find those exact points. On all of our critical flatness callouts we use the rock.
