Undimensioned Features

I'm looking for an option that appears in Zeiss' Calypso hoping that there's a similar approach with DMIS.
When programming a complex part with a model, I like to program around the part in a logical manner measuring all features
I can reach. I then dimension what I've measured to the customer's drawing. There are occasions where a feature on the part
is not dimensioned on the drawing but I've measured it. Calypso won't run a non dimensioned feature thereby leaving that feature grey as an indicator is wasn't dimensioned. This prevents me from missing anything on the part whether it's been dimensioned on the drawing on not. DMIS on the other hand will measure everything, dimensioned or not.
Is there a way for me to tell that one of say 500 features is measured but not dimensioned with DMIS?

Thanks

  • You program much the same as dmis using a clearance zone around the part at allow it to navigate but you can on later versions still use move points. The first versions I worked on had a limited move feature so you had to use clearance and sub clearance moves to navigate.

One of the big differences is that you set the run sequence by characteristic (dimension) or feature (measured) Calypso has 2 edit lists(windows) features and results. If you select run by characteristic it will only run the feature for which you have requested a result.

Now as Calypso's navigation is set to the feature and can be modified independent of the main clearance zone with sub clearance and if you have forgotten to dimension a feature that uses the main clearance zone it will move to the next feature. If that feature is using the same sub clearance as the next feature in the characteristics list the probe will move between them without coming out of the clearance zone and could cause a crash.

    In a nutshell, no!

As it was already stated you have to use the clearance cube to use the "mini routines" and it is a bit confusing at the moment. I know exactly what you are talking about but at the moment PC-DMIS doesn't have that capability in an easy to use way.
