Not a Quindos question - PMMC Probe head

This is not a Quindos question but, I can probably get an answer here faster than the CMM forum.
When doing a manual probe change, after the air supply has been shut down, the head will lock but won't allow a manual change with PC Dmis all versions. To fix this I need to reboot the controller. This is a LSPS4 head.
S Wojo, this one is right down your alley!
TIA

  • No sure if I see the entire 'picture'. If the air supply is shut down, then the gripper will not release, thus preventing a manual probe change. Air is needed to activate the collet gripper to clamp and unclamp.
Are you stating that even after air is re-supplied that the gripper does not unclamp to allow for a probe change? The gripper and probe change functionality should be independent of software (i.e. you can perform probe changes manually without the software (PC-DMIS) running).
A test would be to try without PC-DMIS running. If you can't do the probe changes, then sounds like a controller/firmware problem. But if it behaves differently with PC-DMS versus without PC-DMIS, then PC-DMIS is initiating an error.
