Probes

I am having problems locating my probes in the database. What I need to know is how search for lost probes or change the location from where my probes are pulled from. Each time the software is booted the only probes that are visible are "no tool" and 'undefined tool'. These programs where not written In-house and our usual programmer is nowhere to be found. If someone could please help it would be greatly appreciated. As a matter of fact if someone could leave a number for me to call, I am sure I can explain it better. I myself am a PC-Dmis and Calypso programmer but know nothing of Quindos.

IF those programs were NOT written IN-HOUSE, then the program is more than likey using the SET PATHS from the program source, which may or may not match yours (probably NOT!). So, go to EDIT ~ PREFERENCES ~ SET PATH and make them match one of YOUR programs. It should find them then. HOWEVER, it will PROBABLY NOT find the probe files themselves, most OUT-HOUSE programmers do NOT send the probe files with the programs since everyone has different probe setups.
  • I use Quindos 6 and the probe data could have been saved in a different database. If the probe data is not in the LDB (local database), then look in the GDB (global database). I save probe data there sometimes for probes I will use for multiple parts.

    Hope this helps

  • the original post from emurray indicates that Quindos7 is being used ('no tool' or 'undef tool' are only relative to Quindos7)

In Q7, typically the PRB's are stored in the EDB (Environment Database) however, you mentioned that the programs are not written 'in-house' (are you with turboMeca in NC, with the programs written in France ?) and as such the probes could be stored in a file instead or a different database, it depends upon what the programmer did.

Possible help can be found using Hexagon Tech support 800-343-7933. However, without looking at the actual programs, it may be difficult (tedious) stepping thru to see what is done, especially if you have had no Quindos7 training, over the phone. Better to A) get in touch original programmer to determine what was done, or B) when contacting tech support, send the programs.
