I can't seem to get it to open in any Windows player. I did find that PowerPoint will convert it to some format, but what I don't know. This problem has bugged me for a couple of years now.
Hello, the *.avi files can be opened with the Windows Media Player, for example. If this is not your default app for opening videos in Windows, you can specify it as "custome movie player" in the Simufact Settings under "View>Movie capturing". Additionally please note, that a video encoding is used to save the video data. The default encoding "Microsoft Video 1" is shipped with Windows operations system, the other available codes need to be installed by the user.
Unfortunately the video codecs are a mess and Simufact relies on the OS for them. "Microsoft Video 1" is the most common based on our test with fresh installed Windows machines. But you never know what the vendor does.
My favorite player is "Media Player Classic Home Cinema" (MPC-HC). It does not solve the issue with codecs, but enables to go thru the video frame by frame and stops with displaying the last frame. Can be helpful if you want to have a closer look at the simulation results.
