Configuring the right GPU for VTD

Hi, I have got my full-stack VTD license and was able to install it on my machine and my workstation laptop (Dell Precision 7680). I was able to make sure that both had the Nvidia Graphics card and drivers; however, if I try to run VTD on my machine, it does not run, while it runs well on my laptop. Why is that?

  • Before installing VTD on it is important to configure your laptop with the correct GPU. VTD specifically uses Nvidia GPUs, and the first step in configuring the GPU for usage is to disable the non-NVIDIA GPU if it exists or to select the primary GPU as a NVIDIA GPU. For workstation laptops, you can turn off the switchable graphics option from the UEFI BIOS; however, for your desktop machine, you would need to manually disable the non-NVIDIA GPU and then disable the Nouveau driver.

The Below video demonstrates how to disable a non-Nvidia GPU if it exists and/or make the Nvidia GPU the primary. Then the next step is to disable the Nouveau driver.
