  • To install VTD successfully on a Linux system, you need to follow a structured process that includes preparation, dependency checks, and a careful sequence of module installations. Here are the key steps.

    1. Ensure Prior Setup Is Complete:

    • Make sure the Nouveau driver is disabled.

    • Confirm that the NVIDIA GPU driver and CUDA Toolkit are correctly installed and verified.

    2. Use Redmine as a Resource:

    • Visit the VTD Redmine Wiki hosted by Hexagon for documentation, installation guides, troubleshooting, and best practices.

    • To access it:

      • Register on the VTD Redmine portal.

      • Email the VTD support team to request access to the Wiki.

      • Navigate to: Projects > Virtual Test Drive > Wiki to find resources including: Current release notes, System requirements, and Key tools and installation steps

     3. Install System Dependencies:

    • Follow the Redmine documentation under the section "System Configuration and Software Installationand go to "Installation of VTD 2019.1 or later".

    • Run the appropriate dependency installation commands for your Linux distribution.
These commands ensure that required libraries and packages are available before running the VTD installer.

     4. Run the VTD Installer:

    • Check the Redmine page for more information
    • Download the VTD installer files from the official source and place all installer files in a single directory.
    • Check permissions for each installer and select the "Allow executing file as a program" option.

    • Run the installer by opening a terminal in the directory where the downloaded installer files are and execute them, once the installer opens just follow the directions on screen. During installation, provide the appropriate license file (e.g., a node-locked license).

    5. Verify Installation:

    • Once installed, navigate to the directory inside your VTD installation folder to confirm all necessary files are present.
