A/Flex Optimization: "Remove Internal Solid Element Geometry"

Hi all,

I am trying to reduce the size of my flex body and am using the A/Flex GUI. I use the "Remove Internal Solid Element Geometry" option which usually works. However, ever so often it produces an .mnf with a significantly lower file size. When importing this flex body into ADAMS, only the interface nodes and it's connected elements are imported. All else is missing.

Is there a solution to this...Does anyone know why this happens?

Hi Joe,

I have never seen this before. 1) What version of Adams are you using? 2) Which FEA package and version was used to create the MNF?

Hi Maziar,

I am using Nastran2014 to generate the .mnf.

I tried the following ADAMS-Flex versions to reduce the .mnf. All behaved the same.

ADAMS 2016

ADAMS 2015.1

ADAMS 2013r2

ADAMS 2010

For this latest, I generated 6 .mnf's. Two of them exhibited this issue, the others reduced no problem. Also, it has happened to me before on previous occasions.

Hi Joe,

Could you send me the BDF (SOL103) file of the two type of the MNF's, i.e. 1) the bdf of the mnf showing issue and the bdf of the mnf not showing the issue?

Thanks Maziar,

That might be difficult getting permission from my work. I'll try to get it to you, in the mean time I'm using the 'un-optimized' .mnf for my models.
