I am trying to export an MPEG animation from PATRAN for presentation purposes. Regardless of how many result frames I request, it is only recording and saving half of the frames.

If you change the 'Number of Frames' in the box you can set it to as many frames as you want for MPEG videos. The more frames used, the smoother the animation will appear, however practical limits such as available memory and model size will quickly dictate the limit. If VRML output is requested, then the maximum number of frames allowed is 120. If you already tried this but the video is still limited to a set number of frames it could be due to a corrupted database which can be fixed by closing this Patran window, opening a new db and importing old db (Import>MSC.Patran db) into the new db.
