Matt, could you answer a few questions for myself (being a new admin, but a long time forum member) and a couple of questions some members of the forum asked me.
These are serious questions, if you can't answer them seriously, then I will have to assume you are not interested in a constructive discussion.
1. Why add to this thread on the weekend? Is it possible that you are trying to cause issues, and get yourself banned with your actions?
Why add when I did? Because I was at work where the link to this forum is and because that is when the ban expired and because I don't post (or read) from home unless I've been in the middle of something critical for ME
2. Is it possible to receive SPAM email from someone that you have a business relationship with?
Only from those that don't follow the guidlines for 'not-spam' (ie, un-asked for sales pitches MUST have an opt-out option in the email or they ARE spam). The 2 other software companies and one other machine company I deal with do NOT send "spam", they do contact me from time to time (email & phone), but no "spam"
BTW, here is the FEDERAL LAW for "spam"Your message must include a clear and conspicuous explanation of how the recipient can opt out of getting email from you in the future
http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus61-can-spam-act-compliance-guide-business
You TOS claims to follow this federal law, yet your email DIDN'T.
3. What harm did this email cause you?
Who ever said it DID any harm? I said they were using the membership list for 'nefarious reasons', what's next? selling our info? If they breach the confidence on this, what's next? It's an issue of TRUST, you broke the trust once, how can we know if you will break it again and in what manner?
4. What do you want for the harm you suffered at the hands of this email (I can only guess it was harmful, because otherwise why react so badly?)? This is a serious question.
I want for SOMEONE to admit (and NOT you, I want the person responsible) that what they did was WAY beyond YOUR terms of service (and illegal per federal laws) and that it should never have happened. Now, we are left with the "What will they DO with our personal information that they shouldn't". At the very least we should get some kind of assurance that it WON'T happen again (like that will do a lot, the trust has already been broken) and you need to allow us to REMOVE things like email addresses from our personal info so we can be (almost) assured that you people will not do anything with them.
5. Do you believe that you were ever inappropriate on the forum? More than once? Intentionally? Did you even write to me in email that you knew you were and that you were "assuming for the youtube"?
Yes, I have been, on more than one instance. As for the YOUTUBE that you mention, yes, I did say that I guessed that is what it was for, BUT, once again, I do not know and I still can NOT get an answer out of any of you, just MORE side-stepping the issue (just like this list of questions from you). By the way, to any and all that are following along, the YOUTUBE item in question was a OVER-THE-AIR radio broadcast about a news story, read "word for word" by the DJ, from a newspaper news story. The 'title' image was NOT in any way pronographic, no body parts, no "uppers" no "lowers", nothing it indicate any kind of 's e x' of the 'stick' figures. You can find it for yourself at YOUTUBE by searching for the word ARMAGEDDON
6. Why did you delete your own postings on this forum?
Why? Why are you checking into me and my account? Looking for 'dirt' to muddy the waters over this incident? I deleted them because if you and your people are going to treat your users so shoddy, I'm starting to be of the opinion that my tech help shouldn't be on your site and helping you fix your problems. People either at Wilcox, B&S, or Hexagon have already 'stolen' posts from me and put them almost verbatim into your help files and manuals (one was about Datapage transactions, one was an explanation about what the "T" axis is) all without even a mention of the source, and THOSE were taken from the site that Hexagon forced closed. Anything I post here belongs to Hex, so I'm taking back what belongs to me before it can be stolen.
Two Corrections in your statements:
1. You never asked me for a reason why you were banned. You imply you did and that is incorrect.
WRONG, I asked for it several times, and I am sure that it is STILL ON the ******* web site, where you visited for a brief time and side-stepped the issue several times, enjoining me to do it via emails or PM's instead of on that open forum while other members of 'that site' also chimed in asking for the reason why, all to no avail.
2. More importantly, for the forum community at large, I feel I should correct your willful misquotation of me saying 'nice boy'. I never used those words, and you should retract your misquote.
single quotes are not a direct quote, but a 'statement' quote (IMO). And no, you didn't ask me to be a "NICE BOY" but you asked if "YOU AND I CAN COME TO SOME SORT OF AN AGREEMENT" (direct quotes from email), ie, 'what is it going to take to get you to play along?'
One last statement: Matt, all I want is a users forum. I think you do too. Continuing down the road of justice is just going to make everyone enforce the rules even harder. I believe we are on the same side in the end. I want a relaxed environment here. Please consider that less provoking might get you more freedom, and its your responsibility to choose. There are thousands of forum members here (more every day), and I think they'd prefer the freedom of an open, relaxed board. That's my two cents.
Once again, you want me to drop the matter of the "injustice" that was done by someone in marketing as well as the illegal act they did that started it and you want to bury it under the rug and to keep more members from migrating to "the other site".
Respectfully - Brian
You can never achieve a relaxed userforum if users can't vent their opinions with the bugs in the software, Brian.
Because that was exactly what happened - several threads where bugs were discussed was deleted.
This happened before you were assigned as admin.
vpt.se, bugs continue to be discussed today. It is not an issue. The only posts that were deleted were by a user himself, one's that had no useful information (even about bugs), or ones being made by a user who was silenced then banned. Not one person has been able to give me even part of a title for a post that was deleted without good reason, and the system keeps them all. I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying that no one has given me any evidence to the contrary, and I've asked and asked. Until it can be proved otherwise, it's a myth. And furthermore, if someone can remember any post they know they posted that had good information and was deleted (critical or not), I WILL restore it.
Matts group was full of posts reporting bugs , Brian. And if I can look into the sistem I will definitely find some more.
Hi Matt, my answers...
1. Ok, I'll trust you on that.
2. All users of this forum are required to accept that the forum sends email as a part of the service offered. You have said yourself that you subscribe to threads and get email when someone posts in them. An email from the owners of the forum to PC-DMIS users on the PC-DMIS Forum about a PC-DMIS software conference is not spam.
3. Nefarious reasons? To alert you about a conference? Seriously, you have to be kidding.
4. Matt, no one has to be here. You are welcome opt out of this service at any time by cancelling your forum membership, and you will not be emailed again. Everyone is free to come and go as they please. It's interesting to note that you never asked to unsubscribe from the email in question, instead you chose to air your opinions in public. Only one other user asked to opt out (out of thousands), and we did as he asked. If you don't trust us, please cancel your forum membership. I would respect that decision.
5. You admit it, yet you still can't understand why you were banned in the same paragraph? Seriously, reread what you wrote. Just the fact that you are defending your inappropriateness shows that you fully understand why. Why do you pretend you don't know the reason? Would you post the same thing in a public area of your workplace and not expect it to be removed?
6. Help is help. Users are asking about your posts. You took down good help for people who trusted you. It seems wrong to me, and others have commented that to me as well (they thought we took down your helpful posts, which we did not). And you are correct, anything anyone says on this forum becomes property of the forum, and can be used in any way deemed helpful to the community of PC-DMIS users. The fact that you have given many valuable pieces of advice to users over the years is recognized, and appreciated. However, the contribution of useful content to the forum does not give anyone the right to say anything they want.
Corrections
1. You never asked me in the email conversations we had. You admitted to me that you knew why privately, yet not publicly until now? Why?
2. I apologize for trying to help you remain "appropriate" on this forum. I'm only trying to help. You don't have to accept that help, I respect that.
Matt, I want to close this thread (but haven't yet) because I feel like I am giving you a public place to carry out a personal grievance. It's inappropriate, and a waste of everyone's time. Please air your concerns directly with the people involved (Bill and I are available for a phone call, I'll PM my number to you again, hopefully this time you will accept my offer.).
Still respectfully - Brian

Are you referring to “Receive Email from Administrator” option in user profile?
I’m not trying to stir up the pot but the fact of the matter is my boss is not a member of this forum, he got Email from Hexagon. My employer assigned an E-mail address for me to be used strictly for business (not the one I use for this forum) and I got E-mail from Hexagon as well. I don’t have any problems with that, but imo op-out option is a must, I don’t know what the requirements are but it’s a good business practice.
You can delete your postings but you can’t delete threads that you started…well, I mean you can but we can’t. I’m new to the forum but long time lurker and I know thread starters weren’t banned but threads got deleted, I can’t recall any particular thread and I can’t prove it to you. This subject is not worth for debating, just to confirm vpt.se’s statement…
