We just received a free machine from our sister company with reflex on it. Is this software programable. The book almost is worthless.

It is not programmable. It is pure for quick simple manual measurements. It works best with a hard probe, but supports a TTP too. Ought to be pretty intuitive though. It shipped with a handy quick reference guide. If you can get your hands on that one, you ougt to be set.
By the way, much of that technology has been ported into PC-DMIS. If you put PC-DMIS in pure manual mode, you get a set of very similar icons you can play with. So maybe the PC-DMIS help files can get you somewhere.
