Exporting CMM Programs

Hello Comrades,
Need your help as usual. I have a situation to handle, but I’m not sure how ..
I have a co-worker who is NOT a programmer; I guess he used to be on operator. The problem is that he likes to play with the CMM programs because he has no clue of what’s going on. How would you handle this?? Thru e-mail or verbally to the boss

  • I got thrown to the wolves of programming right after I hired on here five years ago. The day shift guy to this day still refuses to learn how to program in Pcd (he wrote all our old MMax programs) and will only run a "live" PcD program after I've completely troubleshot any issues. I got put on night shift since it was "slower" and told to figure this new stuff out. After a trip to Hexagon for training and several weeks of banging my head into the wall I finally started to pick things up. I've got a couple hundred programs under my belt and still don't know half of what some on here do.

    Attitude is everything.
    Hire (promote) for attitude, train for experience.
    The other way around is seldom worth the effort.
  • Have him promoted to supervision into a new area.
  • On a more serious note: I was also "thrown to the wolves" 12 years ago on a manual CMM, completely unfamiliar with the software.A year ago, "thrown to the wolves" again, new CMM and PCDMIS 2009MR1. Thinking that maybe a friendly approach with some offer for tutoring might cause him to purge his ego and maybe extend some gratitude.
  • Make sure you have back ups of all your programs!!! I used to always have to reload programs after off shifts "tinkered" with them because they did not understand what you could and couldn't adjust. Instead of adjusting approaches or clearances to get an out of spec part to run, I'd find nominals adjusted and the printout would show the results good and lines were given the ok to run.
  • all of you are missing what the thread title said.......first you cantact the person and tell them unless they pay xxx,xxx about of dollars you will release the pics of him and the unknown type of farm animal to the media.......thats how i extort.
