GRR on 100% dimensionals?

Hello,

I have been asked the following question and I am looking for the answer. Since our 100% dimensional, annual layouts (performed on the CMM) are on the control plan, do we need to perform a GRR on these? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Gage RR's are intended to capture and mitigate any errors in repeatability and reproducibility. With that being said it's implied that you would need to be utilizing this program in a frequency which would merit SPC (Statistical Process Control). Does the customer demand SPC data provided for the FAI's on an annual cycle? If not, then no I don't see a Gage RR meriting any value.
I'm presuming you have in-process routines for this matter. These should be the only gage RR -vetted routines.
