  • If you are considering options do not overlook Linux. There are several flavors that range from a user experience very like windoze to closer to unix with lots of options for deep level customization. I used to use Ubuntu until it's new version hardware requirements left my old tank of a laptop behind. Now I run Lubuntu. The L stands for "Lite" as it is a very light OS designed to allow older hardware to interface with the modern innerwebz. There are glitches here and there, mostly with video that I suspect is more my video processor than Lubuntu. Anywho. . . on a new 'puter the Penquin will totally rock as well as Windoze or iOS. Yes you will have a much smaller selection of software, but most applications have at least one solution out there. And it is the super expensive price of "Free". You can download Ubuntu, and several other flavors, to a thumb drive and boot from the thumb drive to test the OS on your hardware at zero risk, before you install it. You can setup a double boot option to boot to either windoze or linux. There are lots of websites with instructions and advice.
