I am not up on the technical names of CMM components but I want to attempt moving the 'main control box', it is the box all the air runs to as well as dials for powering on and off CMM. There is a fair amount of cords and hoses running to and from said box, and I am unsure as to whether it is truly a problem to move them without technical experience. The CMM itself will not be moved. Has anyone attempted this before? I would assume just powering everything down, making the move, and powering back on would be adequate.
The CMM itself is due for calibration this month and I would like to have this task completed before Hexagon comes in for calibration, if possible. I could wait until they come in to move it, but if it takes some time to complete, I do not want to be charged by Hexagon for their services if it is something I can easily do myself.

I think I know which box you're talking about but the one I'm thinking about doesn't have any air lines running to it, the air lines run into the CMM towards the back of it. The box I'm thinking about has a cord to attaches to the CMM. It sits on wheels, it has keys on the front.
There should be no reason to move the said box just for a calibration, unless something is wrong with the electronics i have never seen a calibration tech need access.
what is your purpose for the move ?
I was mistaken. The cords and air hose were so knotted up I could not tell which went where. The reason for the move was to clear up space around the CMM as it was left in such a state that the only access point was the 'front', which made it very difficult to place components/parts on the CMM table.
I was able to reach out to Hexagon and they assured me that there was not an issue with moving the box itself and would not require any sort of calibration. I moved everything around yesterday evening and much to my surprise there was a number of electrical cords and hoses that went to nothing at all!
I appreciate the responses. I was having trouble contacting Hexagon yesterday so I made a post here.
