Hello!
I've got a recurring issue around here; no CAD models!
Our QM handles communications between us and our customers; I'm just a lowly programmer, and am not allowed to get into contact with Engineering to get CAD models to inspect
their parts. Apparently the boss doesn't want to; literally told me "yeah, that's not gonna happen. Can't you program without a CAD model?"
Working Offline on a laptop, because the desktop is currently in the hands of IT, dead.
Dafuq?
I'm not saying you don't, and I'm not attempting to talk down or anything.
This company does not provide me the opportunity to do the same.
I think you should work here before attempting to defend them.
There's a programmer/operator position available, should you wish to apply.
PacMan23 yeah offline seat is programming without any machine attached. Your ONLINE has both options. If you pick OFFLINE you can program and the machine will not move or anything.
But make no mistake, if the machine isn't recognized, with your online seat. You won't be able to do either.
A little late to the party, so if this has been brought up already, apologies.
I'm doing a part right now that has no CAD, so for reference I'll create generic features at nominals that help me see where the traps are, and you can sort of see collisions by <ctrl>-E'ing it in a bunch of different views.
ooohhh okay thanks
KIRBSTER269 I only have a romer arm so that's probably why I have never had to program offline or ever had knowledge on it, but I could see how programming without the machine moving could be a good thing when using a bridge type. Thanks
Speaking of spoiled, Rocker My boss took us to lunch while I was not posting here.......we had Red Lobster Tales in lunch and then we went to Ice Cream shop to take care of our sweet teeth. Boy I am going to sleep on CMM Machine today...... Inspector Jester, This is what call boss and good place to work. My prayers are with you.
Ok, yes, you can program offline without a cad model. I could program all day like that because that is how we had to do it when there weren't cad models, yes I'm old. Today there is no reason not to have the cad model because either the print was made from a cad model or you have an old version of auto-cad and only have a 2-d layer. Even that would help.
But, what happens when you come across the non-prismatic portion of the part that has a profile associated with it? All done. Your boss is a jackhole.
I am agree on most part of your post like firing his Boss.....lol I do use same old way like you do some time but I figure most of engineer sometime don't think the way CMM Programmer think. (e.g according to coordinates and IJK Value one hole should be measured from back of part.) After one crash I quit using old method and test every move on grandpa's vehicle speed.
Do you have any thought about this kind of situation?
