Hi, if my post is in the wrong section please be so kind & let me know. Same goes to :If this kind of question is already somewhere posted.
Now, i got a technical drawing that gives me a measure "Roundness with a Maximum condition".(its a shaft detail)
My issue with this measure is that it asks a roundness w/o any deviation. Also it gives me a maximum condition so called tolerance(or bonus). Shouldn't there be a +/- tolerance for this. If my question is unclear let me know & i will try to rephrase it.
I respectfully disagree. I could be totally wrong, though. I don't have a copy of 14.5M with me.
My train of thought-->
A material modifier is used for positional tolerances. The part being at LMC or MMC gives could yield POSITIONAL wiggle room.
If their intent was to control the shape but say that the shape could vary based on part size, they should have used something like a profile of surface call-out with a "U" modifier and then place a tighter control on the diameter itself.
I have learned a TON from you Andersl, 99.999% of the time I will always defer to you/you guys on the forum and trust what you say..but based off of what I "think" I know, I "think" his DRF is invalud.
I hope a true blue GDT expert can hop on here and throw in their 2cents.
