Discus vs inspctionxpert?

has anyone use DISCUS OR INSPECTIONXPERT? which one is better?
What have you found easier to use for first articles reports.
  • Xpert recognizes Basic numbers as Basic Numbers, Discus wants you to put a tolerance. Same as Reference numbers. If you have an OLD print. They both are pretty much the same, get ready to re-type. Worked with Discus Tech support for 2 weeks, failed time after time. Picked up Xpert was pretty much up and running in 2 Days. Great Tech Support.
  • We use discus. I don't think the complaint you have is true anymore . Discus will now recognize basic dimensions and reference dimensions.
    We are saving hours of time bubbling using discus and our quality admin is loving it! (We have been using it for about 2 months)

    (We ended up going with discus because I heard really bad things a few years ago about inspectionxpert
    I have never used inspectionxpert so I cant speak to that)

    I think both softwares are growing and getting better every year so they are probably both pretty decent at this point
  • We have had Discus well over 2 years. Everytime I was on the phone to try to setup dumping from PC-DMIS into Discus, all I ever heard was "Ummm........ maybe try this, or maybe try that." I got InspectionXpert and they said "Do This" and I haven't been on the phone with them since, plus they have great videos online. I'll stick with my guns. Discus = Garbage, and Inspection Xpert=A++++
  • XPERT here. Tried DISCUS a few years back and I was thoroughly DISCUSted. My absolute favorite that I've ever tried BUT had an extremely steep, I mean steep, learning curve was BCT Inspector. It was like the "Pc-Dmis" of ballooning software, HIGHLY customizable.

    Q: I have a certain Excel i like to use with DMIS. How do i add my Excel and how do i get it to work in DMIS
  • Export your stuff from PC-DMIS as a Text file. This is just an example of things you have to put in the Demon Comment/Report .[balloon number]
    positions Require a little more info. You can see on the bottom one balloon number identification DF= Diameter feature, Y= axis <the basic number if you want. Z=axis<same as Y

  • I am using Inspection Xpert as well. We export data from PC-Dmis and saves us tons of time. Only question I have is when I updated PC-DMIS to 2020 R1 it does not export feature control frames in .txt format. Anyone have a work around? It used to work prior to the upgrade.
