Anyone ever seen this ?? weird issue with planes__circular moves toggle disappearing

Using 2021.1 SP5..

Measuring planes with circular hit pattern. They're autofeatures & points generated using the TTP_PLANE_CIRCLE method.

ALL of the above referenced planes had CIRCULAR MOVE toggled ON inside the autofeature dialogue box.

Program has run successfully over 30 times..has been locked in operator mode...nobody changed this routine/saved anything since the day I approved it and locked it down.

Today, all of a sudden, none of the autofeature planes have circular moves toggled on and now the probe crashes into the OD of the part.

I fixed the issue already...but why/how did this happen??? How did a totally locked down program that has run a few dozen times all of a sudden change a toggle for exactly 16 features (AND ONLY those features...not any others in the program)??? ConfusedConfused

Any ideas ? :scream;
  • Did you update the software recently? What version are you seeing this on?

    I had issues with cast points and .HIT values of a circle in which MOVE/CLEARPLANES were used in-between each hit with 2020 R2, I believe. Maybe my issue and your issue is within the same family of issues.
  • sorry i should have included that in OP, has been updated. i am using the newest release (2021.1sp5)
  • Did it do it on other programs as well?

    i have run two other programs, only happens with this one.

    Is worthy to note, out fo the three prgs, this is the only program using planes that with autofeatures that utilized the TTP_PLANE_CIRCLE method. I am beginning to think it has something to do with that? but idk how or why that would make the difference? ConfusedDisappointed

    I was just curious. Through out PC-DMIS there have been weird sh_it that happens on one and just one program only. I experience, about every other program. I create a new program, bring in the CAD and before I do anything, I put it DCC MODE and go to make a Linear closed scan, and every other time I Can NOT it will not select the surface like it don't exist. So I close it out, create New program name it the same, "That program exist Do you want to overwrite?" YES, Bring the same CAD model back in, do the same thing as before, sure enough now the surfaces light up and I can select my points.

    I had that happen just a few days ago when trying to construct a sphere on a tooling ball on a check fixture. At first I thought it was just bad CAD. Created a program to check the fixture. Then created a second program to check the parts on it. First one when I selected the Tooling Ball with a sphere it didn't automatically select the whole sphere and it did the red dot thing where you can select multiple locations on a surface and create a sphere. I ended up using a circle to find the center and just switched it to a sphere.

    On the second program I created a sphere and it worked fine. Twas strange. The only difference between the programs was one was in inches and the other was in mm.

    Mine are always in inches. I just believe that DMIS is just an old outdated scripting program, and when you add new stuff, well it's like construction on a house, you see that the foundation is not level or maybe the concrete is cra_cked, and yet you start building on top of it, "Oh, that board doesn't lay flat with the concrete, I need to put some shims under that." As you see, Service Packs are the shims, and we sure do end up with a lot of shims.
  • Sorry I wandered off on this subject, sorry danny boy, I use the scan circle when attempting this and I'm still using 2020 R1, so I haven't experience anything yet, but I do appreciate you bringing it to attention.
