  • The integrated graphics card may struggle with large CAD models.

    +1
  • So please give me somebody some idea for configuration. Because i must have notebook only from company Dell and i don´t know which type of working graphic card company Dell usualy using. i am looking for nvidia quadro but this type Dell not use.
  • Most PC's and laptops have enough horsepower to move any cad models. Order what your IT department wants and try it out with your biggest cad file and a big program. Load it up and if it works smoothly keep it. If it lags send it back.

my company told me i could have any make of computer i wanted, as long as it said DELL on it.
So... i got a Dell Precision M4600. Not too shabby. 8GB RAM, Intel Core I5 processor, Windows 7 Professional 64bit w/a 15.6 screen. the display kinda sux, but i got a nice docking station for dual monitor support and all the peripheral goodies. (i use it to program at home)

Ok, but the thing that would probably interest you the most is that it has an Nvidia Quadro 2000 w/2GB RAM. Its not the top of the line, but has handled everything i've thrown at it. And as mentioned.. it supports dual monitors without breaking a sweat. Our company lucked out in that Dell was running a sale and the upgrade to this card from an ATI FirePro was FREE.

    good luck in your quest.
  • If i remember correctly Alienware is still owned by dell and that would make for a sweet setup depending on what you got. I know they are gaming comps but sweet none the less.
  • Dell Precision M series is the way to go for laptops running pcdmis.
Specify an Nvidia QUADRO graphics card.
It will also allow you to do other things while running pcdmis.
    Its also fairly future proof.
(i.e. It will last and wont run out of resourses in a year)

One of my collegues has one with pcdmis and UG running on it at the same time and doesn't have any issues with the laptop.
    (pcdmis is another matter)

Alienware are gaming laptops and come with gamer graphics cards.
