Since you guys are on the subject....Have any of you gurus generated a hemispherical tip before? Specifically Renishaw A-5003-0073. I tried using the Custom Probe Utility and what I did was model the probe in Solidworks and import the IGES into the CAD tab... I added the connection type, but when I open the probe utilities window and select the "test tip" it shows up just fine but no tip values in the active tip list....?
Figured it out! Once you successfully clear the fog from your brain, it is actually not that hard. I mean, I still did not figure out the import cad tab. I just used the component builder instead.

This is actually a Q-Mark probe it is not a Renishaw. I originally named it as a Renishaw part number
Make sure that you open the .dat file that is created, copy and paste into your userprobe.dat file or it will not show up in the probe utility box drop downs. also make sure your connection type is correct for your probing head/machine setup.
