I am running a program that has a few scans it . For reasons beyond my control there is a 10 sec or so delay between each scan .

Well it should be (if you're analogue scanning) - when the scan finishes if you look to the bottom right of the screen you'll see a little hit counter going ballistic trying to catch up.
You need to specify the ip address to use however, do you know how to find your IP addresses? (I'm assuming here the machine was originally set up with 2 network cards, on for network and one for CMM)
I found my tcpip # i do have 2 networks and i tried the #,s from both of them . nether seem to work . how do i find my tcpip port # ? Not sure if the one that i have is rite.
Im interested in this as well, as I have just ordered another network card on the recommendation from our calibration tech when he heard we were going to be scanning. I too have this delay and would like to know the steps to correct this..
after more looking ive found that my tcpip # should be 80.128.0.1 and my tcpip port # should be 2001.Ive set them both at what they should be and i have no communication at all . not sure what to do now !!!

If the controller address is 80.128.0.1 then your PC's IP address should be something like 80.128.0.2 but that assumes you do not get a dynamic address from your IT department. If you need to be on the internal network with a dynamic address, then you might want two network cards, as mentioned by Mike_B
I had zero experience in this, but I also had the same issue you had and just installed a 2nd network card and configured it and PCDMIS to communicate and my machine runs fine now.
Follow this link, follow post #2 step by step, except the part where it says set the subnet to 255.255.0.0 It actually needs three sets of 255.....as described in post #14
