HEXAGON DEA CMM loses its home position

Hello, everyone!
Nowadays I am working with HEXAGON Dea and during last 3 weeks I started to notice, that sometimes, after switching on a new program, CMM goes into emergency mode. After pressing Motor On it does't give the opportunity to work, due to the fact that it loses its own home position. For example, on the position, where X has to be 0, it shows- minus 5238.93849303232. So, because of that it is impossible to calibrate or to work with machine in such condition. To switch off machine for night used to help, but nowadays this problem starts to appear more often and it becomes worse and worse.
UPD: Unfortunately cleaning of scales didn't help to solve the problem. Machine still loses its home position (I forgot to say, only in X direction). It has 3 legs on both sides, so if to imagine that zero position is near the 3rd leg, now it goes in between the 1st and the 2nd legs, stops there and switches "Emergency stop" in controller box (quite loud sound). The code of mistake is " Level 3: Axis X error (0x34) Please Reset Emergency".
My questions are- what can be the main problem and how to solve it?
Thank you

  • I forgot to say - in addition to cleaning the scales, check that the reader mechanism is clean - don't move it (!) - but check it for dust bunnies. We had a dust bunny once on one of our readers, and even though we cleaned the scales, the dust bunny remained. Dust bunnies SOMETIMES block the reader (because they are partially see through if they are loosely packed together) and sometimes they don't, so you may very well get inconsistent behavior. Just an FYI.
