How to place points exactly on center line

I am trying to Probe a line right down the center of my part where the hits come in from the appropriate angles. I could make it from individual points or a line, but I don't have scanning capabilities. I have attached some pictures that should help you understand what I am going for. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1yzBjycglU4qLi_0le3OZHJnm9spsQhV9?usp=sharing (let me know if you can't see them)

My main question is how to I put the points for a profile exactly on the centerline.

  • I use the grid in graphic view>Toggle Graphic Window 3D Grid. I square up to the surface I am placing the point on then I zoom all the way in to the X, Y and or Z values I need. This allows me to place a point exactly on zero on any given surface.

EDIT: Never try to place points or scans on a CAD seam, PC-DMIS doesn't like that
