If you are willing, I'd like to get an idea on something. I am wondering what the CMM Programmer pay range is nowadays. People who are willing, what is your location, pay and experience? I am nearly finished with an Engineering degree and just want to be sure I want to stay a CMM Programmer or move into an Engineering type role...
I'm in Michigan. 20 years (I feel old just typing that) experience doing everything from floor inspector to interim quality manager. 7 of that has been as a CMM operator/programmer. I actually moved to a new company last year. At that time, there were CMM postings from $15/hour up to $35/hour. I'm an intermediate level programmer with good plate layout skills and a degree in computer programming. I was getting cold calls from places wanting me to come in for interviews. In my area, if you are half way decent at programming and inspection, you can easily get about $25-$35/hour.
I'm in the Detroit area but, I've been down that way a few times. I've gone to Indy for conventions and a few sports events and Muncie a few times. Nice area except downtown Indy is a nightmare when there are conventions going on.
