Could there be something wrong with the vectors of the CAD surface? I've had that mess up my day a time or two.
Just now noticed that avoidance moves were on. Sometimes avoidance moves and clear cube will fight each other and cause weird stuff.

hmmmm... mebbe an experiment with one or the other turned off?

i need tight clearances because of the probe dimension and the slot width but maybe i can achieve that with prehit/*retract distance...

worth a try!
