calibration after you turn off the controler

So I work for a place that shuts down the machine every day. I am being told that I need to calibrate every time the controller is turned off. Is this correct?

  • All my machines are shop floor CMMs so we have a policy to run the probe calibration program at the beginning of their shifts whether is a day or night shift. Shop is air conditioned but not temp controlled. I believe the probe calibration data is stored in the controller so unless you have a nice bump or psychically alter a probe, you don't have to calibrate when you turn off the CMM.
